The Facebook App Manager application runs in the background and checks if all the Facebook apps are working properly or not. It has the permission to automatically download updates that provide better security and improves the overall user experience.

This app also checks for Facebook app crashes and provides crash reports to Facebook servers. This allows the developers of the Facebook team to provide patches and fixes to prevent such crashes.

It is also a part of the two Facebook app packages com.facebook.katana and com.facebook.orca.

Is com.facebook.appmanager Safe or Is It a Virus/Malware?

com.facebook.appmanager is a safe application and it is not a Virus or Malware designed to cause intentional damage to your device.

Some people think that it spies on user’s data and sends data back to Facebook so it should be Spyware but that’s false. This app is not Spyware because it only checks for Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram app updates, as well as crashes and it, only sends this data back if there is a crash or issue with the app.

How to Delete com.facebook.appmanager?

You can uninstall com.facebook.appmanager by uninstalling the Facebook app, using Android Debug Bridge software, or through the System App Remover application.

For the devices on which the Facebook app is preinstalled, you won’t be able to remove com.facebook.appmanager by simply uninstalling Facebook. You’ll have to use the ADB method or System App Remover method. On the devices where the Facebook app is not preinstalled, you can simply delete Facebook App Manager by uninstalling the Facebook app.

1. Uninstall Using Android Debug Bridge(ADB)

ADB allows you to bring up a Unix shell so you can issue commands directly on the Android device. You’ll need a Windows PC to use ADB.

Step 1 – Go to Settings > System > About phone. 

Step 2 – Tap on the Build number 7 times to activate Developer Options.

Step 3 – Go back to the main Settings menu and tap on Developer Options to open it.

Step 4 – Enable USB debugging by tapping on it.

Step 5 – Download ADB on your PC.

Step 6 – Extract the ZIP file into a folder.

Step 7 – After extracting the ZIP file, open that folder.

Step 8 – Press and hold the shift button and right-click in a blank area.

Step 9 – Click on “Open Powershell window here.”

Step 10 – Enter the command adb devices

Step 11 – Connect your Android device to the PC using a USB data cable. 

Step 12 – Run the command adb shell pm uninstall –user 0 com.facebook.appmanager and wait for a few seconds till you notice the app has been uninstalled from your device.

2. Uninstall the Facebook app

To uninstall the Facebook app, tap and hold the Facebook app icon on your home screen and tap on Uninstall. Another method is to go to Settings > Apps > Facebook and tap on Uninstall.

3. Uninstall Using System App Remover

1. Download and install the System App Remover application.
2. Launch the application, search for Facebook App Manager and select this app by tapping on it.
3. Tap the “Uninstall” button to completely remove the app from your device.

How to Disable com.facebook.appmanager?

Disabling the com.facebook.appmanager package will stop it from functioning on the device will remove the package data from your device without harming the Facebook app. Here are two ways to permanently disable this app package.

1. Disable Using Package Disabler Pro

Package Disabler Pro is a package disabler app that can disable built-in system apps which cannot be disabled normally. To use this app you’ll have to root your device and once the device is rooted, follow these steps to disable this app.

1. Download and Install the Package Disabler Pro app on your Android device.
2. Search for “com.facebook.appmanager” using the Search button in the top bar.

2. Freeze Using Titanium Backup

You can freeze/disable system apps using the Titanium Backup but this also requires your device to be rooted. After rooting your Android device from the guide mentioned above, follow these steps:

1. Download and install the “Titanium Backup” app.
2. Launch the app.
3. Search for com.facebook.appmanager and tap on it.
4. Tap “Freeze” to disable the package.

Unfortunately com.facebook.appmanager Has Stopped?

Sometimes, when the Facebook App Manager stops working suddenly an error message pops up that reads “Unfortunately com.facebook.appmanager has stopped” or “com.facebook.appmanager has stopped working.”

There are various reasons why the Facebook app or com.facebook.katana application package could stop working.

1. Corrupted or Overloaded Cache Files – If the app cache isn’t cleared for a long time the cache files become corrupted. The cache file storage folder can store a limited number of files so when the size of the cache files becomes more than what could be stored, the cache files become overloaded which leads to these error messages.

2. No Free Memory Available – If there’s not enough free memory on your device then the app might stop working suddenly. It happens on devices with low RAM because the device cannot provide enough Free RAM for the app to work.
