com.coloros.safecenter is the Android package file of the Security Center application on your Oppo and Realme devices. It can be used to perform security functions as well as hide apps and photos on the device.
This article explains more about the com.coloros.safecenter package, what is it used for, and is it safe to uninstall this app.
What is com.coloros.safecenter Used For?
com.coloros.safecenter is the Security Center (Phone Manager) application on Oppo and Realme devices. It performs four important functions including Cleaning Storage, Virus Scanning, Payment Protection and Privacy Permissions.
This app has a One Touch feature that automatically scans your phone and optimizes phone storage. You can also clean Whatsapp and WeChat files using the app. It also has a Component Checking feature that scans for malfunctions on your Oppo device.
Here is a list of all the functions that com.coloros.safecenter performs:
- One-Touch Optimization that allows you to optimize the performance of your device using a single tap. When it is selected, the phone scans your device and select the files to be deleted and optimizes the phone storage.
- Storage Clean Up that allows you to clean junk and unwanted files.
- Privacy Permissions that allows you to manage app permissions.
- Startup Manager that allows you to select and pause apps during startup.
- Virus Scan that scans for viruses and malware.
- Payment Protection that protects payment information during online transactions.
What is ColorOS?
ColorOS is the operating system used in Oppo and previous versions of Realme devices. The latest Realme devices use the Realme UI as the Operating System. ColorOS is also used in selected One Plus devices.
ColorOS has lightweight icons, a livelier style, simpler interactions which provides a breathtaking visual experience for the users. It provides a beautiful and easy-to-use smartphone experience.
It has several features such as Hyper Boost which prevents lags and provides a lag-free and smooth gaming experience. You can also use Multi-user mode, print photos right from your device, and optimize the battery using the Power Saving feature.
Is com.coloros.safecenter a Virus or Is it Safe?
com.coloros.safecenter is a safe application that doesn’t cause any harm to your device. It is not a Virus or Malware.
This app is used for device security and various other functions that are intended to protect your device and make it easier to use. It is a preinstalled application so it won’t cause any intentional damage to your device.
This app doesn’t spy on your sensitive data so you don’t have to worry about the app being Spyware. Some people criticize the app package as Bloatware but that’s false. This app performs very important functions and doesn’t consume your system resources unnecessarily so it shouldn’t be termed as Bloatware.
Can You Uninstall com.coloros.safecenter?
Yes, you can uninstall com.coloros.safecenter using Android Debug Bridge(ADB), Titanium Backup app, and System App Remover application
Since Safe Center is a preinstalled app, you cannot remove it simply by long pressing the app and tapping on Uninstall. To remove this app, you’ll have to use the methods mentioned above.
However, we don’t recommend uninstalling this app because it is required to keep your device secure and optimize the battery as well as clean up junk files. Removing it might cause security issues with your device.
(1) Using ADB
ADB allows you to bring up a Unix shell so you can issue commands directly on the Android device. You’ll need a Windows PC to use ADB.
Step 1 – Go to Settings > System > About phone.
Step 2 – Tap on the Build number 7 times to activate Developer Options.
Step 3 – Go back to the main Settings menu and tap on Developer Options to open it.
Step 4 – Enable USB debugging by tapping on it.
Step 5 – Download ADB on your PC.
Step 6 – Extract the ZIP file into a folder.
Step 7 – After extracting the ZIP file, open that folder.
Step 8 – Press and hold the shift button and right-click in a blank area.
Step 9 – Click on “Open Powershell window here.”
Step 10 – Enter the command adb devices.
Step 11 – Connect your Android device to the PC using a USB data cable and set the USB mode as File Transfer.
Step 12 – You will receive a USB debugging notification on your phone, tap on OK to allow debugging access.
Step 13 – Re-enter the command adb devices.
Step 14 – You should now see the Serial number of your device on the Powershell window.
Step 15 – Run the command adb shell pm uninstall –user 0 com.coloros.safecenter and wait for a few seconds. You’ll notice the app has been uninstalled from your device.
(2) Using System App Remover
This method requires you to root to your Android device. You can use our Android Rooting guide. After gaining root access follow the steps below to uninstall this system app.
- Download and install the System App Remover application.
- Launch the application, search for com.coloros.safecenter and select this app by tapping on the checkbox next to it.
- Tap the “Uninstall” button to completely remove the app from your device.
(3) Using Titanium Backup
This method also requires you to root your device. You can use our rooting guide mentioned above and after gaining root access follow these steps to uninstall the app.
- Download and install the Titanium Backup application.
- Launch this application, search for com.coloros.safecenter and select this app by tapping on it.
- Tap “Un-install” to completely remove the app from your device.
Does com.coloros.safecenter Have High Battery Usage?
The com.coloros.safecenter doesn’t consume too much battery therefore it doesn’t have high battery usage.
This app runs in the background to keep your device secure and to optimize your device. You might notice a slightly higher battery usage during cleaning up junk files.
Normally, the app has very low battery usage and there is nothing to worry about the battery consumption of the app.
