The Android Package(APK) file of the CarmodeStub app is com.samsung.android.drivelink.stub.
It is clear from the APK file that the Carmodestub app is a stub application used by the main Samsung car app called the Drive Link app. Drive Link is a Samsung in-car application that allows drivers to use their smartphones for navigation, messaging, calling, and listening to music right from their car screen.

Usually, when people see apps running in the background which they haven’t installed manually, their first feeling is that this app is malware or bloatware. Android devices especially Samsung do have a history of using pre-installed bloatware like KLMS Agent and RoseEUkor but that is not the case with CarmodeStub.

CarmodeStub is a system application so you cannot uninstall/disable this application in the traditional way you uninstall third-party apps. To uninstall/disable this app, you’ll have to use ADB or the System App Remover application.
I recommend not to uninstall the Carmodestub system application because doing so could cause issues while connecting your smartphone to your car. Also, if you uninstall this app then you cannot access the Car mode feature in Samsung devices.
How to Uninstall CarmodeStub?
If you don’t want to use the Car mode feature in your phone meaning you aren’t interested in connecting your smartphone to your car while driving then you can uninstall the CarmodeStub application either using ADB or System App Remover. Both the methods are mentioned below in detail.
Uninstall CarmodeStub app using ADB
ADB allows you to bring up a Unix shell so you can issue commands directly on the Android device. You can use it to install, uninstall, debug and disable apps. You’ll need a Windows PC to use ADB. This is my preferred method to uninstall system apps because it doesn’t require root access.
Here are the steps to uninstall the CarmodeStub app using ADB.
Step 1 – Go to Settings > System > About phone.
Step 2 – Tap on the Build number 7 times to activate Developer Options.
Step 3 – Go back to the main Settings menu and tap on Developer Options to open it.
Step 4 – Enable USB debugging by tapping on it.
Step 5 – Download ADB on your PC.
Step 6 – Extract the ZIP file into a folder.
Step 7 – After extracting the ZIP file, open that folder.
Step 8 – Press and hold the shift button and right-click in a blank area.
Step 9 – Click on “Open Powershell window here.”
Step 10 – Enter the command adb devices
Step 11 – Connect your Android device to the PC using a USB data cable.
Step 12 – Type the command adb shell pm uninstall –user 0 com.samsung.android.drivelink.stub and press Enter to run this command. Wait for a few seconds and you’ll notice the app has been uninstalled from your device.
Note – You can disable this app instead of uninstalling it by replacing “uninstall” with “disable” in Step 12 of the ADB command shown above.
Uninstall CarmodeStub using System App Remover
This method requires you to gain root access to your device. If you don’t know how to root your Android device then check our Android Rooting guide. After gaining root access, follow the steps below to uninstall the CarmodeStub app.
Step 1 – Download and install the System App Remover application.
Step 2 – Launch the System App Remover application, search for CarmodeStub in the Search bar, and select the app by tapping on it.
Step 3 – Tap on the Uninstall button to completely uninstall the app and delete its data.
