Androidhwext is a preinstalled system application on Huawei devices which is a system framework that controls the style and design of the home screen and apps in Huawei’s native graphical User Interface known as EMUI.

The androidhwext provides additional features like Dark mode where users can darken interface colors by changing to a darker color scheme. This app also allows Android app developers to customize the design of their apps based on the style and design of the native apps in EMUI.

EMUI or Emotion User Interface is a custom Operating System derived from the Android OS developed by the Chinese company Huawei and is used in smartphones developed by Huawei and Honor. In Honor devices, EMUI is also known as Magic UI.

The package name of the androidhwext app is com.android.frameworkhwext which has two different components in the framework-res.apk file known as com.android.frameworkhwext.dark and com.android.frameworkhwext.honor and the storage path of this app is /system/framework/framework-res-hwext.apk

The com.android.frameworkhwext.dark controls the styling and design of screens and apps on the Dark Mode and the com.android.frameworkhwext.honor controls the styling and design of the normal lighting mode in Honor devices.

Framework-res.apk file contains all the elements associated with the Graphical User Interface of the device.

Is Androidhwext A Virus or Is It Safe?

Androidhwext is definitely not a virus because it doesn’t cause any intentional harm to your device. There has been some debate whether androidhwext is Spyware but it has not been found to spy on user’s data or sell it to others so we can safely say it is not Spyware.

Androidhwext is a safe application that controls the look and feel of your screens and apps.
